Brick of Mormon Stories

So this is a book that Mark's brother Steven wrote (along with his nephews Taylor and Matthew). It is a bunch of stories from the book of Mormon. Basically how it works is he has a brief synopsis of what happens, followed by the actual scripture quote. But, the best part is the illustrations, which are all pictures of the scenes built in Legos. It's pretty awesome. Mark and I have been trying to do better at our scripture reading, so every night we read some of the actual Book of Mormon, and then we read a story out of the Brick of Mormon. It's really fun. So you all should check it out. Here is the link to a sample of one of the stories in the book:

Nephi Builds a Ship

Also, you will notice that there is a link on the side to his website where you can learn more and purchase the book. (if anyone feels inclined to put a link on your blog we would really appreciate it. Steven is really trying to get the word out!)

New Callings/ Handouts

So in case you haven't' heard, we got released form the nursery. so sad. Anyway, now I am a beehive adviser and Mark is a deacon's adviser/assistant scout master. We just started this week going to mutual and tomorrow is our first time teaching. I'm pretty excited, i think it will be really fun. Even though there are only 3 beehives and one is going to be out of town for the next month, it should be pretty fun. Anyway, I've been planning my lesson today and these are the handouts that i came up with. The lesson is on missionary work, so i made up these little mini candles and put the "let your light so shine" scripture with it. They kinda look a little weird in the pictures, but i promise they look real cute in real life!

Manti Temple Trip

So last Saturday Mark and I decided to drive to Manti to do a temple session. It was about an hour and 40 minutes south east of us. It was obvious that BYU graduation was this past week, because there were several couples getting married. I think this is one of the two temples that still do live sessions so it was really cool to get to have that experience. (Salt Lake is the only other one that i know of). It was gorgeous inside! After we finished our session, we were talking to this sister and told her that it was our first time to that temple. She told us to go ask someone to take us to see the staircase, so we did. It was awesome. They have two winding staircases that do six full circles. So when you stand at the base of them and look up, it looks pretty amazing. And of course everything was hand carved. Anyway, we actually remembered to bring our camera so we took some pictures afterwards. Isn't mark so cute??
